Works Great

My system Config as follows:

Vista and some Linksys routers/firewalls = stalled sessions (Workaround)
There have been some reports on the Internet about networking problems after installing Vista. If you are having trouble getting IMAP/POP3 mail or trouble using RDP with Vista and are behind a Linksys router/firewall, try this under Vista:

“netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled”

If your networking problem goes away, it is due to a bug in MANY Linksys devices.
So far, most reports are coming from RV042 and RV082 devices, but it seems pretty widespread in general.

Linksys has a beta firmware available for the RV082 that fixes this problem.

Once you install the updated firmware, you can re-enable auto tuning with:

“netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=normal”

Thanks to my friend Tom for pointing this message thread about it here.

I’m sure other devices/stacks might have trouble as Vista gets deployed more widespread. Time will tell.

also this
I GOT IT!!

ok, its a VISTA / LINKSYS problem

with the new vista networking and its TCPIP Scaling (self tuning)
it appears that it exposed a bug in alot of LINKSYS Routers
(many complaints on linksys forums)

I have a RV042, Linksys already has a beta firmware for the RV082 which addresses this issue…

when i turn of its internal firewall, Everything is fine…
I didnt want to loose some of its protection
so…

at a command promt

netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled

that will disable vista from messing with packet size

when the router gets new firmware… ill do

netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=normal

this is a good FYI
